I am a dedicated and conscientious care assistant with 12 years experience in the health care sector. I have worked in both residential and domiciliary care, which during this time I have cared for people with many different backgrounds and needs, varying from: elderly, dementia/ Alzheimer, Parkinson, multiple sclerosis, stroke, and many more. I trained as a care assistant in England and completed a Level 2 and 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care. I spent seven years between residential and community care working as both a care assistant and as a care manager. Five years ago, I decided to move to Ireland and continued working as a care assistant in the community. Last year I began studying a degree in Applied Social Studies (Professional Social Care). My roles have varied from client to client to ensure we meet each persons needs, however some of the duties I carry out are: - To provide personal care while showing dignity and respect. - To prompt/remind medication safely and correctly. - To record in customers record sheet on each visit with clear an accurate information. - To ensure the safety of each customer to enable them to remain living independently at home and to report any concerns. - To liaise with both customer’s families as well as other professionals. - Developing and updating care plans to ensure they have a person centered approach. - To assist with light housework duties. With each person I look after I get to know the whole person by learning their likes and dislikes, strengths and weaknesses, wants and needs. I always ensure I respect each persons privacy, physically and emotionally, respect their right to make decisions and treat them with dignity. I try to ensure a person centered approach with all of my clients by getting to know the whole person. I am very passionate about caring for others and empowering each individual to live their best life, whilst being able to remain in the comfort of their own homes.
