My name is Fiona and I am a kind-hearted, caring, positive and patient young person with a keen interest in caring for the elderly. I have experience in working with elderly individuals. I spent summer of 2016 in Dublin assisting a stroke patient (76 years old) to rehab post stroke. I aided the patient to engage in physical activity and to complete physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy prescribed exercises and interventions. On completion of my undergraduate degree I moved to Galway and obtained work as Health care assistant in the community, I spent 11 months in this role. In 2020 I successfully obtained a Masters in Occupational Therapy. As part of my studies I carried out placements in both community and inpatient settings where I assessed older adults needs, provided OT interventions and worked towards promoting the individuals independence in activities of daily living. Since qualifying I have worked as a Health care assistant in a nursing home setting for 3 months and worked as an Occupational Therapist in a Community Rehab Team and in a Bed Based Rehab facility with patients who require rehab. I have thoroughly enjoyed all of these experiences. I would be more than happy to assist your loved one in completing duties about the house such as assisting with personal care needs, cooking, cleaning etc whilst also prompting their independence when completing these tasks.
