Arriving in Ireland for studies was my first time away from my home country (Nigeria), and it made me think a lot about my grandma of blessed memory because she kept telling me she knew one day I would travel abroad to see the world. My Grandma was the caregiver of the family, taking care of all elderly persons in the family until the very end of her own life. I was her assistant through it all, whenever I was on holidays, going to deliver food to those we cared for and also cleaning their homes. In honour of her memory, I decided I was going to serve an elderly person with my free time, but my applications were all declined because I don't have a driver's license or the required qualifications. I spent time reflecting and realised I could work as a cleaner instead, since that was part of what I helped grandma to do those years. I am from a humble home but have worked hard and tirelessly for sixteen years trying to build a business as a means of providing a job for myself and my quest for personal development and growth brought me to Ireland for studies with my wife and two sons (8 years & 5 years) back home in Nigeria with the younger one autistic which has taught me a deeper level of patience, empathy, attention, compassion, and love. I am self-driven, open-minded, and willing to learn from the perspective of others. Cleaning for me is not just to earn money, but an activity I enjoy because of my knack for cleanliness and orderliness. Furthermore, cleaning offers me the opportunity for silent reflections and to rekindle my heart for service and humility. I look forward to working for a family where I could put a smile on a face or two while doing my work diligently.
