Within my role as a Healthcare Assistant for the IWA, I have over 3 years of experience caring for physically disabled service users and have done so with attentive practicality and patience, being routinely on-call and encouraging the independence of the service user in every stage of care. This fully prepared me in my work placement for University in St. Michael's House and as a Support Staff in Gheel Autism Services within the intellectual disability setting. As a non-Irish national, I have had to develop skills in cultural integration within communities, which is only becoming more necessary due to how international society is now. I have fully realized my unique stance within social care settings; for example, my background has helped within my position in Residental Services for refugee children as there were international and bilingual service users I was able to develop relationships with because I was able to encourage the multicultural components of this setting. I have excellent communication and presentation skills. I am innovative, pragmatic when necessary but thoroughly principled. I am ambitious and relish the opportunity to work to protect the interests of all service users, shape the future of Social Care in Ireland and develop my knowledge and skills further.
