My name is Fernanda, I am 29 years old. In Brazil I was a volunteer at AACD - Association for Assistance to Disabled Children. During my time at the AACD institution, I had the honor of caring for special needs children, an experience that was extremely rewarding and enriching. My primary responsibility was to ensure that each child received personalized care tailored to their individual needs. I worked closely with a dedicated team of professionals to develop and implement activities that promoted the children's physical, emotional, and cognitive development. One of the positive aspects of my work was creating a safe and welcoming environment where the children felt loved and valued. I established a consistent routine, which helped provide a sense of stability and security for them. Additionally, I always strived to promote the children's independence by encouraging them to participate in daily activities according to their abilities. Another important aspect was maintaining constant communication with the parents and caregivers. I kept an open and transparent dialogue, regularly sharing the children's progress and achievements, as well as any challenges that arose. This collaboration was essential in ensuring that the children's needs were met holistically. The experience at AACD taught me a lot about patience, empathy, and the importance of an individualized approach. Seeing the children's progress, even in small steps, was incredibly rewarding and reaffirmed my passion for working with special needs children. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to have been part of AACD and for everything I learned during this period. I carry with me precious memories and a deep admiration for the children and their families.
