Hi my name is Ruth, I am currently working as a Community Support worker with young adults who have physical and intellectual disabilities. I have a BSc in Applied Healthcare and also have a QQI in Special Needs Assisting. In my current role I have completed a variety of Continuous Professional Development courses such as CPI, Epilepsy training, medication administration, patient manual handling, and CPR. I have also completed other CPD courses on my own accordance to enhance my skill set. In my current role I have a range of duties, my main duties are feeding requirements, toileting needs, attending daily activities, supporting clients wants and needs, personal care needs, and supporting families. I have improved my skill set from working in this role and previous roles, which I worked with children from the ages of two years and up. I have a range of experience working in the area of additional and special needs in regards to children also. Although I loved the area I am currently working in, I have always had a interest in caring for children, I have cared for children of family friends and children in my own family. I am considering changing my current position as from working in my previous experiences such as a Montessori and school settings I feel this is an area I have great interest in and fun.
