About RobertBack to Top
I have spent the past four years committed to delivering empathetic support to individuals with disabilities. My experience sparked a deep desire to assist others, which motivated me to pursue a degree in social studies and social care practice. I currently possess certificates in Social Care and Community Studies (FETAC 5) and a BTEC level 6 in Integrated Health and Social Care Practice. Additionally, I am currently in my final year of studying social studies and social care practise at level 7. Once I finish my studies, I will become a registered practitioner with CORU. Throughout my career, I have acquired a wealth of knowledge and expertise through a combination of training programmes and practical experience. This has allowed me to provide valuable support and improve the quality of life for individuals with additional needs. Training received: Children First, Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults, Crisis Intervention, First Aid, Mental Health Awareness, and Disability Equality and Human Rights. I am committed to fostering inclusivity and championing the rights and well-being of individuals with additional needs. Through my studies and practical experience, I have gained a comprehensive understanding of the challenges individuals encounter and the significance of delivering care that is tailored to their needs. I am dedicated to constantly improving my skills and knowledge to stay current with the latest industry standards. This enables me to offer top-notch assistance to individuals who require it. Effective communication is crucial when providing care to individuals with special needs. I am adept at effectively communicating with both individuals and their families to gain a thorough understanding of their unique needs and preferences. This allows me to meet their needs, encourage their independence, and cultivate positive relationships. Through attentive listening, I can gain a deeper understanding of their feelings, worries, and aspirations. This enables me to offer essential assistance and make individuals feel heard and appreciated. Listening attentively is also beneficial for fostering trust and connection, which is crucial for creating a welcoming and encouraging atmosphere. In addition, I have developed strong observational skills that allow me to perceive nonverbal cues and comprehend individuals' needs, even when they cannot articulate them verbally. Compassion and comprehension are essential in my position as a carer. By empathising with their perspective and gaining a deep understanding of their needs, I am able to deliver exceptional care and support. This involves recognising their emotions, affirming their encounters, and offering a compassionate response. Understanding and relating to others on a personal level fosters a strong sense of trust and ease. Understanding their specific needs and challenges helps me customise my approach and offer the individualised support they deserve. Being flexible and adaptable to various needs and preferences is crucial to my position. It is crucial for me to be understanding and adaptable when catering to the unique needs and preferences of each person I assist. Being able to adapt to their specific needs allows me to provide the best possible care, whether it is adjusting meal times, modifying activities, or adapting my communication style. Furthermore, it is crucial to maintain patience when interacting with individuals who may have cognitive or physical limitations. It may require more time for them to finish tasks or communicate their thoughts, and it is crucial for me to maintain a patient and understanding attitude throughout the process. Maintaining composure in high-pressure situations is another crucial skill in my line of work. There may be occasions when unforeseen circumstances occur. During these times, it's important for me to maintain a sense of calm and composure, as my attitude can significantly influence the overall atmosphere and state of mind. Through maintaining composure, I am able to defuse tense circumstances and offer a feeling of steadiness and confidence to those under my care. This skill also enables me to think clearly and make informed decisions, ensuring my safety and comfort at all times.
