My name is Kristina. I am 30 years old and originally I come from Slovakia. I came to Ireland 4 year ago with no English whatsoever. At the beginning I worked as an accommodation assistant in the Spencer Hotel. I worked very hard to improve my English so within half a year I was transferred to the restaurant where I worked as a waitress. Within these positions I gained a lot of experience and I appreciate all the opportunities I have got while employed in the Spencer Hotel however my dream is to work with children. I have two older siblings so my first childminding experience started with their children. Later on I cared about other people's children based on recommendations from my siblings. For the last 13 years I have taken care of children aged 0 to 8 year. Childminding involved light housekeeping, meal preparation, laundry, shopping, homework help and driving children. It is very important to develop children's creativity therefore during my childminding I always came up with new activities to entertain children. I helped them learn through educational games. We used to do a lot of art and crafting. I found these activities very rewarding for both children and parents. We did a lot of outside activities. In regards to young babies my responsibilities also involved changing nappies, feeding, sleeping and bathing.Most importantly I have made sure to create a calm, positive home atmosphere. Working with children is something challenging, but always fulfilling and that is why I love it so much.
