My Dad is recovering from a sucessful tumour removal operation in Waterford hospital at the moment. He is 85 and has had a stoma bag for 2 years which he can empty himself. He is soon going to do 2 weeks in Rehab to help regain his mobility. Dad should be escaping his rehabilitation around 17th or 18th of April. He will have HSE help morning and evening for an hour. Bernie (his fantastic HSE nurse currently) changes his stoma bag and helps with washing. He then potters around the house and can empty his own stoma bag. We are hoping to find kind gentle souls who will help him with the following shifts . 1. day weekend(Friday to Sunday inclusive first weekend. After that Saturday to Sunday ) help- assisting Dad with mobility to his chair from breakfast and perhaps a little tidy up after meals 2. Weekend nights(Friday to Sunday 3 nights) help- Dad will be in bed but just to be nearby in adjacent room to help in emergencies or if he needs anything during the night. You can go to bed and sleep- hopefully not too heavily:) 3. Days during week: Monday to Friday to help his fabulous carer Gabrielle who returns from her hols, to Dad, on 18th April. We are a bit concerned that Gabrielle might need help with Dad's mobility over the first month. Dad currently thinks Gabrielle is there to help Mum with the house (his pride), which she does but she helps him with his exercises and does jobs while keeping an eye on him. 4. Nights during the week: Dad will be moved to bed with HSE nurse Bernie's help, but we just need somebody to be there in case of emergency during the night. Best regards, Sarah
