I am a 25 year old mother and full-time carer for my 4 year old son who suffers with muscular dystrophy. Thankfully my son is very independent and at present does not suffer with chronic pain or weakness. He uses a manual wheelchair at the moment in which he wheels himself and is also very good at it. He is unable to walk or crawl but he does shuffle around when sitting on the floor. My son is a very happy loveable child who is highly intelligent. He has a huge imagination and his vocabulary is absolutely amazing, he doesn’t suffer with any intellectual disabilities it is just his physical disability but it doesn’t hold him back. He loves to play, his passion for his toys is amazing his toys are his life and once he knows someone is going to sit and play with him he will be happy, but he is also very good at judging character and if he doesn’t feel comfortable around someone he will tell them, he is very honest and knows what he wants and doesn’t want. I am struggling at the moment to balance work and being a mom etc I am looking for someone just occasionally for a few hours on a weekend from time to time it wouldn’t be regularly but just when needed. Would involve playing with him maybe watching a movie giving him some food (he can feed himself) doesn’t need assistance eating, and maybe putting him to bed there would be a use of hoisting for bedtime so I am looking for someone who would be familiar with the use of a hoist.
