I’m an Irish Social Care graduate with a genuine passion for supporting older people to feel safe, independent and, most importantly, themselves. I’m a warm, patient and genuinely caring person who really enjoys getting to know people and making them feel comfortable, respected and at ease. I have previous experience supporting an older lady, where I helped with appointments and everyday routines, and also enjoyed doing the little things that made her feel good like doing her hair and nails, giving her a pedicure, taking her out to garden centres and even going for drives to see the Christmas lights. I loved hearing her stories and getting to know her as a person. I’m particularly interested in overnight care, where I can provide companionship and reassurance in the home. This could be helping someone get ready for bed, making a cup of tea, settling in for the evening and watching some TV together, having a chat or simply being there so they don’t feel alone. I’m also happy to support an established medication routine as appropriate and within my role. I think there’s something really lovely about spending time with an older person and hearing their memories and stories especially hearing about what Ireland was like when they were growing up. I enjoy that connection between generations and I believe good care is about seeing the person, not just their care needs. I’m friendly, reliable, easy to talk to and have a good sense of humour. Most importantly, I want the person I’m caring for to feel safe, comfortable and treated with dignity, while giving their family peace of mind that they’re in caring and capable hands.
