My name is Irene, and I am from Madrid, Spain. I am 24 years old. I am eager to experience a new culture and improve my English, as it is an essential skill for my career as a teacher. For me, family is one of the most important things in my life, and we are very close. If I had to define myself in three words, I would say I am cheerful, empathetic, and sociable. I love trying new things and meeting new people. I have always wanted to be a teacher. However, because I loved mathematics, I decided to study Economics. Even so, throughout my degree, I knew my dream of teaching was still there. Consequently, in June 2025, I completed my Master’s Degree in Secondary Education. This qualifies me to teach Economics and Mathematics to teenagers in Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO) and Baccalaureate levels in Spain. • Volunteering Experience I have always been deeply committed to helping others, which has led me to participate in three volunteering programs: - Social Inclusion (Age 17): I spent a year working with children aged 8–12 at risk of social exclusion through my school. - "Educamos Contigo" (UAM): A year-long university program providing academic support and emotional education to teenagers. - International Camp Counselor (Summer 2025): I spent two weeks as a camp monitor in Germany working with children and teens aged 6–16. • Education & Certifications I love continuous learning and have completed several courses to broaden my skills: - 2026: Caring Through Leisure: Mental Health Promotion in Non-Formal Education Settings - 2026: Activating Groups: Keys to Facilitating Sociocultural Animation Groups - 2024: Building Your Online Presence (UAM). - 2023: Volleyball Referee Certification. - 2023: Leadership in Organizations. - 2023: Smart Time Management (Productivity). - 2022: Leisure and Free Time Monitor License. - 2021: Study Techniques and Time Management (UAM). - 2020: IT Skills: Excel, PowerPoint, and Word (UAM). • Childcare experience this year This year, I worked as a private tutor for Mathematics and Economics during the week. On weekends, I have been working as a volleyball referee for the past three years. Additionally, I occasionally work as a nanny for three children, where I prepare their breakfast and take them to school. However, since August I have been living in Dublin, where I have been working as an au pair for nearly two months for an Irish family (from whom I have references). • Free time In my free time, I love hanging out with friends and doing a variety of activities: hiking in the Madrid mountains to be close to nature, playing board games, watching the sunset, going out for dinner, or visiting the cinema. I am also very active; I love playing padel and volleyball—the latter being a sport I have practiced since I was a little girl. • Childcare & Teaching Experience I have extensive experience working with children of all ages. - Summer 2022 (Girona): Thanks to this platform, I worked for one month in Girona, Spain, caring for two children (ages 2 and 4). That same summer, I also worked in Madrid during the mornings, looking after two children (ages 6 and 2) - Morning Routine & Infant Care: For four months, I was responsible for three siblings: a 9-month-old baby, a 5-year-old girl, and an 8-year-old boy. My duties included waking them up, preparing breakfast, and taking them to school. Working with an infant gave me practical experience in changing diapers and other essential baby care tasks. - Current Work: I currently provide occasional morning childcare for three children (ages 5, 7, and 12), ensuring they get to school on time. • Group Leadership & Formal Education Beyond private childcare, I have a strong background in organized youth activities: - Scout Monitor: After earning my Leisure and Free Time Monitor License, I spent a year leading a group of 15 children (ages 6 to 8 in the Scouts) - School Activities: I worked for three months at a school as a monitor for children in both preschool and primary education, leading sports and artistic activities. - Teaching Practicum: As part of my Master’s degree last year, I spent two months working with teenagers in a formal secondary school environment, focusing on academic development. Through my various volunteering roles and my teaching degree, I have remained in constant contact with children and youth, allowing me to develop strong communication and leadership skills. • Language Skills I am a native Spanish speaker, and I am highly motivated to improve my English; I currently have an intermediate level (B2). I also have a basic knowledge of French, as I studied it for five years during my time at school. • My Motivation for Becoming an Au Pair I would love to be an Au Pair because I have always enjoyed working with children; it is a beautiful role that makes me feel truly fulfilled and satisfied. I believe my previous experience demonstrates how deeply committed I am to social interaction and working with children and teenagers. • My Expectations My expectations are to enrich myself by experiencing a new culture, stepping outside my country, and embracing a different lifestyle. Most importantly, since family is so vital to me, I hope to truly connect with your family and feel like a member of it. I aim to bring positivity and a sense of calm to the household, ensuring a great relationship at all times. • Other Relevant Information Regarding my habits, I am not a vegetarian and I do not smoke.
