Hi, I’m Sophie, I’m 20 years old and I’m a caring, patient and trustworthy person with a genuine passion for helping and looking after others. I’m available for childcare, babysitting, nannying and companionship/care for older people, and I’m happy to support individuals with different needs. I completed a year of Early Childhood Education and Care at TUS, where I gained knowledge and experience in child development, care, safeguarding and creating a safe and supportive environment for children. Unfortunately due to personal and unexpected circumstances was unable to complete my full 4 year degree.Through my college placement and studies,I gained so much knowledge and experience on how to support children’s growth and development and it provided me with a variety of hands on experiences. I am also Garda vetted through this program. I have hands-on, personal experience caring for children with additional educational and behavioural needs. My younger sister is 11 and has additional needs, and I regularly help care for and support her. This has taught me a great deal about patience, understanding, communication and adapting to each child’s individual needs. I’m comfortable staying calm during difficult situations and understand that sometimes children need extra reassurance, patience and encouragement. I also have experience working with pre-teens and teenagers aged 9–16, having spent a year teaching makeup. This helped me develop excellent communication skills and taught me how to build trust with younger people, keep them engaged and explain things in a way that suits different ages and personalities. I have several years of experience in the makeup and beauty industry, which has given me very strong hygiene, cleanliness and sanitation skills. I understand the importance of maintaining a clean, safe environment, particularly when caring for children or older people. I have also volunteered with Limerick Treaty Suicide Prevention, where I gained training and knowledge around mental health awareness and basic first-aid principles. This strengthened my ability to listen, communicate with empathy and treat people with kindness, dignity and without judgement. I would describe myself as reliable, compassionate, patient and approachable. I understand how important it is for families to feel comfortable and confident leaving someone in their home and caring for someone they love. I always aim to make the person I’m caring for feel safe, respected, included and comfortable. Whether it’s helping with childcare, keeping a child entertained, supporting homework and activities, providing companionship to an older person, or simply being an extra pair of hands for a family, I’m happy to help and always try to make the experience positive and enjoyable.
