I have over 35 years of experience in the caring profession, supporting children and young adults with additional needs. I am a mother of five grown children, three with additional needs, so caring has always been a central part of my life. I have extensive experience working with autism and complex needs, including individuals who are non-verbal and have sensory impairments. I have supported a young adult who is visually and hearing impaired for 5 years, and a 21-year-old with non-verbal autism for 7 years. I am experienced in creating structured routines, supporting communication, assisting with personal care, and planning meaningful activities both at home and in the community. Originally from Galway, I recently returned to Ireland after over 30 years in the United States, where I built my caregiving experience.
