Hi My name is Amy and I am 25 years old and l am willing to commute for available jobs. I have been working for the past they’re years as a care support worker in the Anne Sullivan centre caring for dead and blind people with physical and intellectual disabilities who are living in residential care. As a care support worker my role required me to assist the residents living at the Anne Sullivan Centre with their day-to-day care needs. I acted as both a physical and emotional support to the residents which i cared for. I provided them with personal care, assisting them around their eating and toileting and carried out domestic tasks around their homes which they were unable to complete themselves. I was expected to follow care plans provided for each resident along with making choices and using my own initiative when it came to their care needs. In this role it was important to encourage and promote as much independence as possible for each resident. I was also given the task of setting out daily plans for the residents to ensure they were kept busy during the day and left feeling fulfilled and content by the evening. As part of my role various communication tools were used between myself and the residents including sign language, physical prompts and hand over hand sign language. I have received may different certificate and training throughout my time working at the Anne Sullivan centre including manual handling , fire safety training , medication management training , ISL courses , CPR training along with the completion of HSE land modules as required and I am also Garda vetted. I have formed great relationships with the residents I’ve cared for over this time building trust and respect between us. Other courses I have completed in my own time include social studies level 5 , Pharmaceutical science level 5 and most recently a SNA level 6 course.
