Live-in Childcare & Disability Support Assistant – 3-Year-Old Girl Location: Allen, County Kildare, Ireland Position: Live-in, part-time (30 hours per week) Salary: €16–€18 Accommodation: Private bedroom with en-suite bathroom and full board provided About our family and the role: We are a family based in Allen looking for a kind, patient and reliable live-in childcare assistant to help care for our 3-year-old daughter. Our daughter has a rare genetic condition that affects her muscle strength and mobility, particularly in her lower limbs, as well as global developmental delay. She does not have complex medical needs and does not require nursing care. However, she does need additional support, supervision and assistance with everyday activities. We are looking for someone warm, caring and genuinely interested in spending time with young children. The ideal person will enjoy playing, engaging with and helping our daughter develop at her own pace. Main responsibilities • Providing attentive, safe and loving care for our daughter. • Playing and engaging with her • Helping with feeding, meals and snacks. • Changing nappies and assisting with personal hygiene. • Supporting her mobility and physical activities according to her abilities. • Supervising her and ensuring her comfort, safety and well-being. • Following her established routines and working closely with us as her parents. This is primarily a childcare and companionship role, not a nursing position. Working hours • Monday to Friday: 5:00am – 9:00am • Saturday: 5:00am – 3:00pm, with a one-hour lunch break • Sunday: Off Total scheduled hours: 30 hours per week. Outside agreed working hours, you will be free to enjoy your personal time. There is no expectation of being available simply because you live in the family home. Accommodation and benefits As part of the position, we offer: • A private bedroom with your own en-suite bathroom. • Full room and board, including meals. • A comfortable family home. • 20 days paid annual leave and other employment entitlements. • A supportive and respectful working environment. Requirements Essential: • A genuinely kind, patient, gentle and caring personality. • Experience caring for babies, toddlers or young children. • Reliability, responsibility and good communication skills. • Comfortable with feeding, nappy changing and other personal care tasks. • Ability to follow routines and understand a child's individual needs. • Good references from previous childcare or care-related work. • Legal entitlement to work in Ireland. Desirable but not essential: • Previous experience supporting children with disabilities or developmental delays. • Childcare, special needs assistance or healthcare qualifications (such as QQI Level 5 or equivalent). • Paediatric first aid training. • Familiarity with safe mobility support and manual handling techniques. Experience is important, but we place equal value on the right personality and a genuine interest in helping our daughter thrive.
