A companion is required for my Mum, an 86 year old lady who has dementia and is alone during the day. We are looking for someone who can be available approx 11- 6 Mon -Fri. Mum has always been very independent and believes she can still do everything for herself. She is unaware of her dementia diagnosis and so requires someone who is sensitive to her condition but can be firm when required. Basic care and hygiene needs are met by HSE carers 3 times per day. Following a fall and a broken hip earlier this year Mum has limited mobility but can move around within the home using a walking frame. She needs assistance to stand and use the toilet. She needs encouragement and guidance to do her exercises a couple of times a day . We are looking for someone who Mum will quickly see as a friend that is there to do crossword puzzles with her and go out in a wheelchair taxi for coffee or hairdresser and beautician appointments etc.
