Bernie is my Mam, she's 88 and suffered a stroke a few days before Xmas 25. She spent 3 months between Connolly Hospital and Woodlands Unit in Blanchardstown and was discharged on a few weeks ago requiring round the clock care. She has lost most of the use in her left leg and arm, and is not mobile. Otherwise apart from poor short term memory, she is very capable and her mind is still quite good. We moved her to a nursing home thinking this was the best environment for her, but she has not settled to the point where she has become extremely distressed, and we are looking at options that would allow us to bring her home. She lives near Ashbourne, Co Meath and has family in the same house and also nearby.
