Supporting the Child • Assist the child to integrate as fully as possible into the preschool. • Support the child to become as independent as possible. • Encourage the child to interact with peers and to foster positive social and emotional development. • Provide 1:1 support to help the child in daily self-care (e.g. toileting, washing hands, eating, etc.), if required. • Conduct observations and maintain documentation as required. 2. Programme development and delivery • Planning and preparing activities tailored to the child’s needs, in collaboration with preschool team leader and staff team. • Participation in all preschool activities as appropriate. • Preparing curriculum plans for the child, in collaboration with the staff team. • Review and evaluation of what is working and what is not, and refining plans accordingly. • Making changes to the way of working based on advice or feedback from professionals, family and/or preschool staff team. 3. Teamwork and Interagency Working • To work in partnership with the preschool team leader and preschool staff. • Attend and participate in relevant preschool meetings. • Participate in regular feedback and planning meetings. • Participate in review meetings with the family and wider support network, as required. 4. General duties • Ensure that the protection and welfare of all children is a primary concern, and be aware of, and implement, local child safeguarding policy if concerns arise. • Maintain accurate, professional written and electronic records of the work undertaken. • Operate within policy, legal, ethical and professional boundaries when working with families. • Actively contribute to service review and development in a positive, solution focused manner. • Participate in supervision and appraisals. • Maintain up to date knowledge and skills as required by the role.
