Full-Time Childminder Position – Starting August/September 2026 We are a warm, social, transatlantic family (Irish dad and Italian-American mum) living in Dublin with four fun-loving boys: a 9-year-old, twin 7-year-olds, and a 4-year-old. One of our twins wears cochlear implants and is autistic. He is a happy, engaging child, and we are looking for someone who is patient, supportive, and open to learning about his communication and developmental needs. We are both full-time professionals with flexible careers that allow us to work from home regularly. We are seeking an energetic, reliable, and interactive childminder to become an important part of our family's routine and ideally stay with us for the longer term. Hours (expected, subject to change) School term: • Monday to Friday, 12:00/12:30pm – 7:00/7:30pm School holidays: • Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 6:00pm Additional evening hours (typically once per week) and occasional weekend. Guaranteed minimum of 170 paid hours per month. Paid annual leave provided in accordance with Irish employment law. The Role Early afternoons will be focused on light household duties and preparing for the afternoon. Once school finishes, the role shifts to school collections, after-school activities, and engaging with the boys through play, learning, and daily routines. Our children love spending time in the garden, local parks, the library, and arts and crafts and sensory play as well as exploring new activities and adventures nearby. A couple of the boys also attend after-school activities that require local drop-off and collection. Responsibilities • General childcare and supervision. • School pick-ups and local activity drop-offs/collections. • Organising indoor and outdoor activities. • Preparing healthy meals and snacks. • Supporting homework and reading. • Encouraging independence, responsibility, and good routines. • Supervising daily tasks such as tidying toys, setting the table, getting dressed, brushing teeth, organising school materials and getting children ready for bed. • Light child-related household duties, including: o Loading/unloading the dishwasher. o Wiping kitchen counters. o Tidying children's play areas. o Putting away children's laundry. Essential Requirements • Minimum 2 years' childcare experience. • Genuine enjoyment of working with children. • Garda vetted (or willing to become Garda vetted). • Non-smoker. • Comfortable transporting children on an electric cargo bike. • Excellent references from previous childcare employers. Desirable (But Not Required) • Familiarity with, or interest in learning about, deafness, cochlear implants, speech and language development, or sign language. • Familiarity with, or openness to learning about, neurodiversity (including autism and ADHD). • Interest in arts and crafts, reading, music, sports, or outdoor activities. • Enjoyment of cooking healthy family meals for a household that loves good food! If you are energetic, dependable, enjoy spending time with children, and are looking for a long-term role with a welcoming family, we'd love to hear from you. Mornings will be dedicated to light housework, with afternoons dedicated to school runs and interactive play with the children - in the house, the 'Art Attic', back garden, local parks, local library, and other fun adventures. The boys also have a couple after-school activities that require drop-off / collection in the nearby village, e.g. piano lessons. Duties and Responsibilities: General childcare, indoor and outdoor recreational activities, meal / snack preparation, and light housework (washing dishes, wiping counters, putting kids' laundry away). Guiding / supervising children in their daily tasks and chores (homework, tidying toys, setting the table, brushing teeth, dressing, toileting, organising books). Must Have: 2+ years experience in childcare with a love of children, Garda vetted, comfortable riding an electric bike with kids, and non-smoking. References required. Nice to Have: Understanding or awareness of deaf community (e.g. interest in speech and language development or sign language) would be welcome but is not required. Willingness to learn about neurodivergence (e.g. autism, ADHD) would also be appreciated. Passion for healthy cooking would be an extra bonus for this foodie household! :)
